So last week I started reading Bitter is the New Black. You know it's all about how she loses her job and everything that happens after. Okay so then I got bad news at work or new that bad news is coming. Yes I'm being vague but this is the world wide web and I'm certainly not going to go into specifics.
So then on Sunday I'm watching Weeds Season 4. It's the season where Agrestic has burned to the ground so the family moves on. Yeah so I start watching this and then all of a sudden in a matter of 2 days I decide to move. Not oh I think I might move but I've looked at all of 1 place and took it in 1 day.
So the new apartment is MUCH smaller but also much less money. Do I really need a 1 bedroom with dining area, patio, fireplace, etc? Nope. I don't. So I'm trading down. I'm looking forward to purging some crap (why do I still have some of this stuff?) and moving on.
Let's hope this upheaval spurs on some other good changes (you know vs. the other kinds).
Oh the other book I've been reading the last few weeks is Andrew Carnegie's biography. It's probably about 800 pages and not exactly thrilling... yet. I'm really hoping that some of Mr. Carnegie's business success rubs off.
Then I'm going to read a book about a man who falls deeply in love with a woman just the way she is and they live happily ever after. I'll be taking suggestions on that one. Could be any type of media: play, movie, tv series, poetry reading, etc.
it's like blink, but so much cooler. is that it? blink? no...the secret. that's what i meant. the secret.
ReplyDelete@ least that's what i hear it's about.

ReplyDeletesorry les, but i HATE the secret. probably b/c my arsehole of an old boss gave it to everyone in the company when they couldn't make payroll or just before they didn't or something... anyways, all that book reminds me is that craptastic job i had...
as for the uplifting book... i dunno, but i fell in love with time traveller's wife. and the movie is coming out soon - can't wait!!!!!!! she falls in love with him when she's 6 years old and they live happily ever after... mostly :)
You moved? Where? Not too far, right? (because I see you so often already)

ReplyDeletethat book has my wedding dress seamstress in it!!!:
As I was paying for half of the alterations, minus bustling, I saw a book by her chair, Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster, and asked how it was. She said although it is not typically the type of book she reads, the author is very funny and sarcastic and it is well written. Yet the real reason she is reading it is because one of her clients pointed out to her that she is actually IN the book! Jen Lancaster is a local author, who came to the Dress Doctor five or six years ago, as Soheila recalls, and asked her to make her a black wedding dress. And the author put the Dress Doctor in the novel, and it so happens the author's photo at the back of the book is a head shot of her on her wedding day in the black dress.
Leslie - I welcome Kasahanters anytime (did i get that right). Sign me up for Wed & Thur!
ReplyDeleteKath - never read the Secret never plan to. I certainly hope reading a book doesn't put bad joo joo out there.
