Do You Know This Face?

Some of you may know that I'm pop-culturally illiterate before 1995. It's an odd cut off but more often than not true. I'm picking up on things bit by bit due to embarrassing conversations (like Jessica explaining to me the beautiful french song from Michellen's wedding was the Beatles).



With that explanation in mind this next story will hopefully bring you a chuckle.



On Friday I flew out of LAX - Southwest terminal. The security line was nice and long for the weekend. When I made my way to the actual metal detectors a had one older gentleman in front of me and one behind me. The one in front was balding with glasses, the one behind had long grey hair and a beard. We were all sharing the bins (the guy in front was having issues deciding how many he needed so I passed him one and he passed it back and then I passed it to the guy in back of me). We were all playing really nicely. The guy in back of me and I had a near collision of bags on the table but we shared. Both very nice men amid all the stressed out wackos you find in the Southwest terminal.



We went through the metal detector and all of a sudden there were 4 security personnel talking to the guy in back of me. They were asking him how he was. Saying he was a "legend". Asking about a tour. I was baffled!! Who was this old hippy behind me with the nice smile? I thought maybe he was part of the grateful dead - they're hippies! I looked at him a few times confused but decided not to bother him. I truly came so close to saying "Are you in a band?" Thank goodness I didn't ask!!

Apparently it was David Crosby of Crosby Stills and Nash. Can you imagine if I had asked if he was in a band? Blake was mortified that I had no idea who this was.



*The guy on my flght told me who it was - otherwise I would still think I saw a member of the Grateful Dead.
