The beginning of my French journey. Journey to France. France Journey. Whatever they all sound pretty good.
After a delightful trip with my people, the people, the masses... coach, I arrived in Paris. While the flight was delightful (screaming children - check, turbulence - check, no sleep - check, no food - check) I was a bit fatigued upon my arrival. Thank goodness I was staying at the fairest hotel in the land.
Concorde Opera Paris (angels sing as you say it)

Fancy isn't it?
I believe this historic hotel was last updated in the 1960s and last cleaned around then. Yeah the interior was a far cry from the exterior. Luckily the excitement of my flight (did you know they have inflight entertainment?? the screens are about the size of my iphone!) had left me ready for a quick nap.
I sent Katherine and Courtney off to shop and explore Paris while I recharged.
I couldn't take a self portrait sleeping so this as close as I could get. My hair looks far better when I sleep than this (sloppy honey, sloppy!)They were bored to tears without me. Poor things couldn't find a thing to do:

So once awake and refreshed I met the girls for drinks, dinner and fun.
We set off for dinner and made sure we were acting our most sophisticated. Paris had to know these were Scripps women. We were all grown up and ready to roll.
After that little incident (sorry Kath but I had to make it public) we took K's photo privileges away until after dinner. That and the places we went to were swarming with Frenchies who spotted our Americanness and we wanted to keep as much street cred as we could.
Appetizers and dinner were delightful with C's friends. They were very gracious to us. They taught us new things like a piscine (new cocktail) and we tried to teach them new American slang (douche bag).
We decided to award their graciousness with a group photo for them to place on their wall, mantle or bedside table.
Sadly (for C's friends) the locals spotted Scripps women and jumped into the photo with us. Yes that's another strange man in the background who wanted to be closer to us.
There were no more photos from the evening as we finished the night with a cocktail in an undisclosed location (might have been - totally was - the restaurant Carrie had lunch with her Frenchie boyfriend's ex-wife).

So that folks is day 1. Not too different from my normal life. If I'm not rubbing elbows with celebrities I'm dashing off to exotic locals. It's just how I roll.
** All photos from France were taken by C & K as I only brought iPhone. They get photo credits.
