New Years Eve

NYE was also the rehearsal dinner. We left our gated community on the point to head into town to a restaurant called el fogon in town. Now town was a true Mexican town. This was not a tourist destination like so many other Mexican beach cities. There was no Papas N' Beers in sight (who else is going down memory lane to Papas N' Beers right now?).

The restaurant was quite an exciting place. There was a pond in the middle. Yes a pond in the center of the restaurant complete with a bridge to get to the other side of the restaurant. Please note that the bridge looked like my 5 year old niece had built it and was completely wet making it a hazard for women in heels (holes in bridge) and for anyone in flats (men included).

Our group of 11 (recall there are 11 people in our villa) squeezed into a table for 8. Then 2 more friends arrived so our table for 8 turned into a table for 13. Yeah it was a bit crowded but it made our table even more fun. Kurt "Mr. Fun" Lentz led the margarita charge with a vengence. He also led the "let's toast everything" movement that labeled us the rowdy table. I love being at the rowdy table. I hate being at the quiet table. I feel like a failure when I'm at the quiet table.

We had an excellent dinner and right after we finished it was time to countdown to New Years. We made our way out to the street to watch the fireworks and the trucks FULL of people driving past. We all said Happy New Year and started the process of finding cabs for all 40 or 50 of us. After an eventful 30 minutes of trying to find cabs we all proceeded home. Home meant to bed for the older folks and to our house for any still interested in partying.

We continued to celebrate for another few hours back the house with various drinking games and other fun activities. I'm sure we were nowhere close to quiet for the staff living downstairs.

Fantastic New Years celebration filled with so much laughter I got my ab workout in for the day.
