I spent about 6-7 years as a Rainbow. Excuse me, a proud Rainbow. We had the most kick ass team. I swear we won every game we were so awesome.
Somehow those days are long gone and my teeny tiny niece is now playing soccer. From the looks of it she plays the way I played for the first few years. I like to call it the cloud technique. All soccer players crowd around the ball wherever it goes on the field resembling a cloud. Here are a few photos for your enjoyment.

ReplyDeletei am from irvine, which basically commits a kid to at least one year of soccer. i played from age 5 to high school. it's definitely better the younger you are. i did my first round-off cartwheel while "playing soccer" (we used to do cartwheels once the coaches made us actually play our positions instead of all chase the ball - and when the forwards had the ball down the field, there were three of us fullbacks who got really good at cartwheels. then they made us stop doing that, too).
