I Have Some Splainin' To Do

So last weekend I had this very very very bizarre dream. The kind you wake up from and go what the F* was that?? I was going to email one of the stars of the dream - lil' did but forgot to.

Fast forward a few days and I'm doing dream interpretations for lil' momma Jo. I told her about my weird dream but I told her on Facebook. All of a sudden a world of hurt was opened on me for this bizarre dream and my choice of words. In an effort to clarify, and try to stamp out this firestorm of controversy I'm splainin' myself (you know how Ricky says it on I Love Lucy).

The dream was that Devon was painting with her rump - I say rump instead of ass/booty/rear/junk in the trunk/booty/bum/behind/bottom because that's what my Dad called it when we were little (our dog liked her rump scratched - top part of her butt above the tail) - in a sit and spin type motion.

So I apologize for my odd use of words. For not telling lil' d first. For putting it on facebook. I was wrong.

Now can anyone tell me what it means??

  1. before we get to the dream interpretation part, let's delve a little deeper into another odd choice of words: sit and spin.

    Sit and Spin

    1. An insult, referring to the child's toy "Sit 'n Spin", but used with a sexual connotation. The term tells a person to take a thumb (or another finger or object), stick it up their asshole, and spin on it. It's akin to saying "go fuck yourself."

The phrase can be used alone, or can be accompanied with a gesture. Holding your fist out in the "thumbs up" position, the speaker makes a short jab upwards, symbolizing sticking one's thumb up their ass.

    2. A sexual practice where a man lays on his back and his partner sits on top of him inserting his penis into whatever opening is desired then the partner on top spins around 180 degrees or 360 degrees while remaining engaged with the man laying on his back.
Instead of pulling off of me last night when she wanted to change positions, she did a "sit and spin" to face the other direction.

    3. A polite way to tell someone, "Go fuck yourself!" It's the kind of phrase that even if you've never heard it before, when said at the right time with the right attitude, everyone in the room knows exactly what it means.
TOM: How 'bout you let me borrow 20 bucks?
DICK: How 'bout you go sit and spin!
    HARRY: That shit was funny.

  2. WHAT?! I had no idea there were those definitions. That's awful!!!!!!!!!!

Why would you think I would mean any of these vs. the innocent childhood play game that I loved.

  3. devon, i warned sarah on her facebook page that it was not nice to tell her friends to sit and spin. i can now see that she is very naive and innocent and didn't even know what that meant. maybe the same goes for the word rump...she's just so innocent and old fashioned that's the only word she could come up with.
as for the interpretation...obviously sarah thinks you are so amazingly artistic that you could paint with your "rump" and it would still be good. duh.

  6. So Sarah, it sounds like in your childhood, a "rump" was the "hump on a dog where the tail and rear meet". So are you implying that dev has a tail?
And dev, please tell me you found those definitions online and did not write those yourself!

  8. ladies, suppose i should have sourced the ultimate resource in the modern use of language: urbandictionary.com

sarah might want to subscribe to phrase-a-day, if they offer it.

now, as for the dream. can you give some more context?

  9. I actually used the urban dictionary as the definition source on the post. Entering people's names in it is quite funny. The office spent a good 20 minutes on it a week ago.

I don't have any other details from the dream retained in my memory. It was a very large room which reminded me of a childhood nightmare of me being really small looking at this huge world spinning away in front of me. Hmm control issues??
